The Motion Arm Hybrid has been designed for use by transhumeral amputees and limb-different individuals who need the functionality of a prosthetic elbow to maintain their quality of life. The goal of this redesign project was to create a modern update to the industry-standard Utah Arm device by Motion Control.
After close collaboration between designers and engineers, and with the help of industry feedback, the Motion Arm is now available in both manual lock and electric lock versions. The electric lock version uses Bluetooth technology and configuration software to match the device’s functionality with muscle-controlled electrode sensors in the user’s socket. The manual lock version uses a body-powered cable lock and device-managed option configuration.
Prosthetic devices are very personal to the individual wearing them, and in addition to being functional they also need to be aesthetically pleasing and durable enough to handle daily life. This includes being waterproof, shock resistant, lightweight, compatible with multiple easily interchangeable industry terminal devices, and have a powerful rechargeable battery. The Motion Arm design has excelled in all of these areas.
